Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics

CEREC® restorations (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) gives your restored tooth a more natural match to the rest of your teeth, and can help preserve the healthy part of that tooth. We do not use any metal crowns hence our CEREC crowns, veneers, and fillings are made in our office while you wait, out of porcelain.
Normally, it takes two appointments to complete a crown. At the first appointment the tooth is prepared, an impression is taken and a temporary is made. The impression is sent to a laboratory to be made and can take 2 to 3 weeks to complete. Hoping that there was not problem with the temporary you wore for that 2 week period, your 2nd appointment deals with trying on the crown and making sure that laboratory has sent the crown back with the correct fit and color. Now with CEREC you can have this all completed in one visit.

Computer Aided Design

CEREC use a small, lightweight handheld digital camera to create an image of your tooth. That means we do not take gooey impressions that make you gag. By using this CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, we then use specially designed computer software to create a 3-dimensional model of your porcelain crown or restoration.

While viewing your specific 3D image, we can make final adjustments to the crown’s size, shape, contact points, places where you floss and bite as well other important measurements that are accurate to within 20 microns. That is smaller than the width of a human hair. Then we can wirelessly transfer these measurements to a special computer-driven dental milling machine. This milling machine, like a lathe that is used to make a baseball bat or a leg of a chair, will create your new highly detailed ceramic crown out of a solid block of porcelain in just minutes! The ceramic blocks come in a wide variety of shades and colors and are selected to match your surrounding teeth. Since the design is reproduced exactly to specifications, a perfect fit is insured. Finally when the milling is finished, the restoration will be polish then bond it into place in your mouth. Since we do not use cements, which can wash away after time, your bonded CEREC will be sure to last the test of time.
